Leadership

History

MSE’s story begins in 1969, when the U.S. government awarded the $295M Advanced Surface Missile System (ASMS) Engineering Development Model contract to a team led by RCA’s Missile and Surface Radar Division (a Lockheed Martin predecessor) and that included CSC among its team members. The CSC organization supporting the ASMS (later Aegis) contract continued work on various Aegis projects over the following 40 years, ultimately becoming the systems and software engineering powerhouse of CSC’s Defense Group.

In October 2009, CSC separated that engineering team from the remainder of the company and established Mission Solutions, LLC (in limited jurisdictions d.b.a. Mission Solutions Engineering). MSE was acquired by ASRC Federal Holding Company a year later, in October 2010. As a member of the ASRC Federal family of companies, MSE builds upon our legacy of experience to bring knowledgeable, proven solutions to a wide array of customers. MSE is headquartered in Moorestown, New Jersey, with a satellite location in Dahlgren, Virginia.

ASRC Federal Holding Company

ASRC Federal is a subsidiary of Arctic Slope Regional Corporation, an Alaska Native corporation that represents the business interests of approximately 11,000 Iñupiat shareholders. Profits earned by ASRC are distributed to shareholders in the form of dividends. Shareholders living in difficult conditions on Alaska’s North Slope use the dividends to sustain their villages and the Iñupiat way of life. Shareholders are also located throughout Alaska, with a smaller number residing in the lower 48 states.

ASRC and its subsidiaries:

  • Work to preserve the Iñupiat culture and traditions that strengthen shareholders and ASRC
  • Invest a portion of revenues to promote healthy communities and sustainable economies for eight villages on the North Slope
  • Adhere to traditional values of protecting the land, environment and culture of the Iñupiat

CMMI Level 5

MSE’s outstanding technical expertise in naval weapon systems is firmly grounded in a solid, proven and acknowledged world-class engineering capability that has been rated at Level 5 of the Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI1) for more than a decade. Our Level 5 capability represents the commitment to excellence in engineering and quality assurance MSE has demonstrated in designing, developing, testing and integrating millions of lines of software delivered to hundreds of naval vessels throughout the world.

MSE’s focus on the SEI's CMM/CMMI as an indicator of process capability and maturity began shortly after the SEI itself was established, with a self-evaluation of a beta test version of the SW‑CMM in 1987. Since that time, we have maintained our focus on process and performance excellence through formal continuous process improvement and SEI certified evaluations resulting in six consecutive CMM/CMMI level 5 certifications since March 2001.

MSE’s Level 5 maturity rating places us among the top 7% of U.S. government contractors and 8% of all companies world-wide, attesting to an unparalleled business process framework implementation that has enabled extraordinary product development quality, speed and capability.

MSE is truly "Living Level 5," executing business processes in such a way that we are achieving the benefits that can only be realized when solid and sustained commitment is in place. And this means something real in the most visceral sense – because we know that what we do makes its way out into the fleet where, with the world situation as it is today, sailors need to be able to press a button and trust that the system will work right, every time. There is no greater achievement than that.
